LIVE AND LOCAL NEEDS YOU! 
On Friday 18 and Saturday 19 July Newark and Sherwood LIVE & LOCAL will be held at Newark’s Palace Theatre - and the organisers are looking for solo artists, duos and bands to join the line-up. Whether your style is pop or punk, brass or blues, soul or swing, this is your chance to perform live on stage!
On Friday night, it's the Festival of the Bands. To enter, you all need to be under 21, at least one band member must live within a five mile radius of Newark and you’ll need to play a minimum of one original track of at least 3 minutes. The closing date for entries is Friday 20 June - for more details and an entry form, contact Lucy Pike at Newark Town Council on 01636 680333.
On Saturday, there's no age limit in force and the only stipulation here is that at least one band member must live in the district of Newark and Sherwood. Performers will be selected by a panel which includes experienced musicians using demos you provide, which must contain a minimum of three songs or tracks, either originals or covers.
If you have a web presence on myspace, send your URL and contact details to george.sycamore@nsdc.info or you can send your demo, in CD or other format, by post to George Sycamore, Newark & Sherwood District Council, Kelham Hall, Newark NG23 5QX (Tel : 01636 655464). The closing date for entries is Monday9 June so get your act together and get in touch!
And even if you can't play a note or hold a tune, you're needed too - get the dates in your diary now, look out for programme details in early July and be sure to join the audience at the Palace for this year's festival
