Chance of an Off-Road Experience

Posted on Wednesday, 08 June 2011 02:26PM by Judy and the Peakdistrict Online Team
An off-road vehicle club is offering to take members of the public for a spin to raise money for the East Midlands Air Ambulance.

The East Midlands Off Road Club will be at the Kit Car Show, at Newark Showground on June 18 and 19.

Although the club has not set a price for the off-road experience, it is asking for a donation. Member Mr David Brewer said a similar event last year raised about £500.

"Any form of motor sport can be dangerous and even though we compete at low speeds the type of terrain we use our vehicles on, and the remote locations we compete at, means if we are in need of urgent medical attention then we might well rely on the services of the East Midlands Air Ambulance," he said.

"The format is allowing members of the public to be passengers inside our vehicles for a drive around an off-road course, which was originally put in for the Land Rover show a couple of years ago.

"We are a friendly club and our main aim is to have fun while enjoying our form of motor sport."
