Plans are well under way for the fourth annual Christmas Tree Festival at Newark Parish Church.
One of the organisers, Olivia Blackburn, the wife of the Rector of Newark, the Rev Vivian Enever, said the festival was going from strength to strength and they were building on the success of previous years.
Last year they had more than 90 trees imaginatively decorated by a range of organisations, businesses and schools from the Newark area.
This year the aim is for 100 trees, which will be on display in the church from Saturday December 3 until Sunday December 11.
Olivia Blackburn said: "Participants range from the youngest to the oldest in the community, representing widely differing interests, which are reflected in the huge variety of ways in which the trees are decorated."
Olivia Blackburn said the festival attracted thousands of visitors who were able to enjoy a wonderful atmosphere at what was a special time of year.
Anyone wanting to take part can either have a tree ordered from the Doddington Hall Estate or can bring in their own tree to decorate.
The organisers are also looking for event sponsors.
The festival will include stalls selling Christmas gifts, cards, toys, clothes and jewellery.
Home-made refreshments will be served, and there will be seasonal music including choral singing.
Newark Town Council finance and policy committee agreed to give £150 towards the cost of the event.
Last year the festival raised £4,297, of which £4,000 was used for general church funds.
The festival will be open on December 3 and 10 from 9.30am until 5pm, from 11am to 4pm on December 4 and 11, and 10am until 5pm from December 5 to 9.
