A hundred women have registered for the Sunflower Run For Fun, in aid of Newark’s Beaumond House Community Hospice, but more are needed.
The event is a 5km women-only fun run where participants can sprint, stride or stroll round a route at Newark Showground on July 14.
Wil Chung, the hospice’s fundraising and marketing manager, said: "Beaumond House Community Hospice, with the assistance of Newark Showground, has organised the Sunflower Run For Fun with the aim of raising as much money as possible for the local charity that provides supportive palliative care for patients with life-limiting or terminal illnesses and their families."
The hospice hopes that more than 500 women will enter and aims to raise at least £10,000.
Registration is £10, with forms available at Beaumond House, LA Fitness and Saks.
Everyone completing the event will receive a goodie bag, a medal and a commemorative certificate.
There are prizes for the individual and team who raise the most sponsorship, and the best-dressed individual and team.
Special gifts will be presented to participants who get £25, £50 or more than £100 in sponsorship.
The fun run will start at 7pm.
